What your commission buys

A full retail campaign, handled.

Photos and walkaround video

60+ professional photos, a narrated walkaround, a cold start and exhaust clip, and a full spec and options write-up.

National reach

Listed on our site and syndicated to Classic.com, CarGurus, Cars.com and Autotrader, plus our private buyer list.

Optional auction route

For enthusiast specs, we can run a Bring a Trailer or Cars & Bids auction with your reserve, if you want one.

Buyer vetting

We qualify every buyer before a showing or test drive and handle the tire-kickers, lowballers and scam calls.

Financing for buyers

Buyers can finance through our lenders, which widens the pool and gets you a stronger price.

Delivery and paperwork

Enclosed delivery to the buyer, title transfer, DMV forms and lien payoff, all handled by us.

The math

Why consigning usually nets more.

A cash buyer has to leave room for reconditioning, holding costs and risk. When you consign, the buyer pays retail and you keep everything except our fee.

Want speed instead? Our cash offer pays in a day or two. Many sellers ask for both numbers and choose.

Illustration only, not an offer or a guarantee. A cash offer depends on the car, its condition and the market, and a consignment sale price depends on what a buyer pays. Any loan payoff comes out of either number.

How you get paid

Your money's path, step by step.

The biggest fear in consignment is not getting paid. Here is exactly how the money moves.

  1. We sell as seller of record

The buyer signs with us, so you never deal with strangers, checks or title transfers.

  2. Funds land in trust

The buyer's cash or lender funding goes into our separate consignment trust account.

  3. Your lender is paid

If the car is financed, we pay your lender directly from the sale and get the title released.

  4. You're paid in 3 days

The rest is wired to you within 3 business days of funds clearing, with a written accounting.

Owe more than the car sells for?

It happens with newer cars. We'll show you the payoff and the expected sale price before you sign. If there's a shortfall, you bring the difference in certified funds before the car is delivered to the buyer, so your lender is paid in full and the title can transfer.

Consignment questions

What consignors ask us.

How much does it cost to consign an exotic car with AYE Exotics?

A flat commission, quoted in writing before you sign. There are no upfront, listing, photo or detailing fees. If your car doesn't sell, you owe nothing except reconditioning you approved in writing.

How long does consignment take?

Our agreement runs 90 days. Well-priced, well-documented exotics usually sell in about 30 to 60 days. Rare specs and cars priced above the market can take longer, and we'll tell you honestly if the price is the problem.

When do I get paid?

Within 3 business days after the buyer's funds clear, with a written accounting of the sale, the commission and any payoff. California law allows dealers up to 20 days. We don't use it.

Where is the money held before I'm paid?

In a separate consignment trust account, not our operating account. Your sale proceeds are never used to buy our inventory or pay our bills.

Can I consign a car that still has a loan?

Yes. We're the seller of record, so the buyer's funds come to us, we pay your lender directly, and you get the rest. If you owe more than the sale price, you bring the difference in certified funds before the car is delivered to the buyer, and we'll show you those numbers before you sign anything.

Can I consign a leased car?

Sometimes. Some leasing companies allow a dealer to pay off the lease and some don't. We check your lessor's rules before you sign a consignment agreement.

Will you drive my car?

No. The only miles are accompanied test drives with qualified buyers, logged and capped at 10 total unless you approve more.

Does my car have to stay at your location?

No. Indoor storage is included if you want it, but you can also keep the car at home. We'll photograph it there and show it to serious buyers by appointment.

Can I cancel?

Yes, anytime with 24 hours' notice and no cancellation fee. You only reimburse costs you approved in writing, such as a detail or new tires.

Who sets the price?

You do. We bring recent sold comparables and a recommended list price and walk-away number, but the final asking price and the lowest offer you'll accept are your call.
